Manhattan Short Film Festival 2018

Salamanca returns to participate, from next Tuesday, October 2 and for the ninth consecutive year, in the 21st edition of the Manhattan Short Film Festival. A festival that exhibits the best short films in the world in more than 250 cities, and that the spectators of Salamanca will be able to vote for their short. The Museum of Commerce is once again the scene of the screening of the short films. Due to the wide acceptance that the festival has had among the public, it was again chosen to make two screenings per day at the following times: 6 p.m. and 8.30 p.m.; during the four days, the Salamancan spectators will be able to vote for their short film and favorite actress or actor among the nine finalists, admission is free until full capacity is reached. Each viewer will receive at the entrance a voting card in which he is asked to vote for one of the projected short films and the actress or actor, his favorites. At the end of the screening the voting cards are collected to make the count. The result of the votes is centralized via email and organization is sent in Manhattan. After the sum of all the votes, the list will be announced, in an act that will take place on October 10 in New York City. It is expected that more than 100,000 people from the five continents will gather in cinemas, galleries, museums or cafeterias in order to see, enjoy and choose the short finalist. The City Council of Salamanca, through the Salamanca Film Commission in collaboration with the Museum of Commerce, is once again organizing the celebration of this festival whose main objective is to promote the short film format, support its creators and offer viewers from all over the planet an opportunity to participate in a common project. The Film Commission has published promotional material: posters and flyers that will be distributed in different parts of the city, such as university faculties or libraries. One Week, One World, One Festival is the philosophy that sums up the Manhattan Short Film Festival. For a week and in multiple rooms of the planet the 9 short finalists will be seen and the public will be the one who chooses the winner.
