Manhattan Short Film Festival 2019

Salamanca is once again participating, starting next Tuesday, October 1, and for the tenth consecutive year, in the 22nd edition of the Manhattan Short Film Festival. This festival showcases the best short films in the world in over 250 cities, and in Salamanca, audiences will be able to vote for their favorite short film.

The Museum of Commerce will once again host the screenings of the short films. Due to the festival's widespread public acceptance, it has been decided to hold two screenings per day at the following times: 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM. Over the four days, Salamanca's viewers will be able to vote for their favorite short film and actor or actress among the nine finalists. Admission is free until full capacity is reached.

Upon entry, each spectator will receive a voting card asking them to vote for one of the projected short films and their favorite actor or actress. At the end of the screening, the voting cards will be collected for tallying. The voting results are centralized via email and sent to the organization in Manhattan. After all votes are tallied, the winners will be announced at an event held on October 6 in New York City.

More than 100,000 people from five continents are expected to gather in cinemas, galleries, museums, or cafes to watch, enjoy, and choose the finalist short film.

The Salamanca City Council, through the Salamanca Film Commission in collaboration with the Museum of Commerce, is once again organizing this festival, whose main objective is to promote the short film format, support its creators, and offer audiences worldwide an opportunity to participate in a common project.

The Film Commission has produced promotional material: posters and flyers that will be distributed at various points throughout the city, such as university faculties and libraries.

"One Week, One World, One Festival" is the philosophy that encapsulates the Manhattan Short Film Festival. For one week, the 9 finalist short films will be screened in multiple venues around the globe, and the public will choose the winner. Participating cities include Phoenix, Vienna, New York, Santa Monica, Boston, Buenos Aires, San Antonio, Sydney, Moscow, London, Mumbai, Turin, Prague, Bilbao… and Salamanca.
