To truly know a city, merely looking at it or admiring it is not enough; those actions only introduce us to a fraction of it. One must also touch it, feel it on the skin, discover its texture, recognize its music, its silence, smell it, perceive its aroma, and taste it in all its nuances. But to know it authentically, one must also be able to step into others' shoes, observe it through their eyes, measure it with their hands, and thus understand it for what it is: a living entity in constant flux, in transformation, a complex reality woven from many perspectives and experiences.

"Salamanca con todos los sentidos" (Salamanca with All the Senses) represents, in essence, a commitment to an open city, unhindered, without exclusion, without borders; a city that can be enjoyed globally and completely, a city for all and by all.

New Accessible Technologies

We want all people visiting Salamanca to enjoy the city, for it to be an accessible, enriching, open city, for everyone.

To facilitate your visit, we offer various tools to enhance your experience. If you wish to explore the city at your own pace, you can use the city's audio guide at audioguiasalamanca.com or the Salamanca Turismo tourism app, which you can download for free from Google Play and Apple Store, and which offers subtitles and sign language.

Salamanca is also part of the Tur4all accessible tourism app, developed by PREDIF, the National Representative Platform of People with Physical Disabilities, which compiles accessibility conditions for over 2400 tourist establishments throughout Spanish territory.

Salamanca Tourism has implemented numerous accessibility initiatives to make its heritage accessible to everyone, under the brand “Salamanca con todos los sentidos”.

The Salamanca Tourist Information Office offers its services to people with diverse disabilities.

TOURIST INFORMATION OFFICE

Adapted counter for people with reduced mobility. Easy-to-Read city brochures, produced in collaboration with Asprodes, Plena Inclusión. The easy-to-read brochures are:

City Guide.
Ieronimus, the Cathedral towers.
Scala Coeli, the Clerecía towers.
Monumenta Salmanticae, the Salamanca Architectural and Urban Heritage Interpretation Center.

Tourist guides adapted for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or communication difficulties. The guide, named ‘PaTEA Salamanca’, has been entirely developed by users of the Los Cedros Day Center, part of Ariadna.

Wheelchair loan.

MONUMENTA SALMANTICAE, the Salamanca Architectural and Urban Heritage Interpretation Center, is located on Veracruz Street.

This center offers information in Braille and models with audio explanations in Spanish and English. It also has a version for children.

Additionally, there is a typhlological model of the city's historic center made of oak wood and scaled 1:1,250, a raised-relief map adapted in Braille, and virtual reality glasses to view a virtual tour of the city's monuments.

Several spaces feature accessible signage: Monumenta Salmanticae (City Interpretation Center), Clerecía Towers (Scala Coeli), Cathedral Towers (Ieronimus), Bullfighting Museum, and the Municipal Tourist Office.

ADAPTED TOURIST APP Salamanca Turismo offers information on the city's monuments and routes with audio guide, video description, and subtitles. You can download it by searching for the Salamanca Turismo application.

Accessibility: For the purposes of accessibility in buildings, spaces, facilities, and services are classified according to the following symbology:

Accessible: Those that meet the functional and operational requirements guaranteeing their autonomous and comfortable use by people with limited mobility or communication difficulties.
Practicable: Those that, while not meeting all the aforementioned requirements, do not prevent autonomous use by people with reduced mobility or any other functional limitation.
Practicable with assistance: Spaces where external help is considered necessary for their correct use by people with reduced mobility.
Non-adapted: Those that do not meet the functional requirements and dimensions guaranteeing autonomous and comfortable use by any person, including those with limitations, thus preventing access, circulation, and stay in their premises.

Accessible Visits

The organization of adapted tours for individuals with diverse disabilities is another of the initiatives through which the local Tourism Board aims to ensure that all people have access to the city's cultural and tourism offerings. This initiative is proving highly successful.

The guided tours of Paseos por Salamanca, the dramatized tours from the year's various programs, the tailor-made visits to archaeological sites, and some of the activities of Las Llaves de la Ciudad are the programs that already regularly incorporate special adapted sessions.

On the website salamancaymas.es, you can view the organized tours and request a sign language interpreter on demand by sending an email to gestion@turismodesalamanca.com.

Additionally, there is a city route with recommended itineraries for people with reduced mobility, which can be obtained at the Tourist Office and downloaded from the bottom of this section.

Furthermore, here you can view an accessible route created by the Grupo Ciudades Patrimonio de la Humanidad, with detailed information and descriptive sheets for each monument.

Easy Read Guide to Salamanca

"Salamanca con todos los sentidos" are specific universal accessibility initiatives and easy-read guides about the city, designed to ensure that people with disabilities, foreign visitors, or seniors can fully enjoy Salamanca.

In Salamanca, universal accessibility and easy-read are being promoted through various initiatives, including adapted materials at the Tourist Office and historical sites, easy-read training courses delivered by the University of Salamanca and other entities such as Asprodes (Plena Inclusión Salamanca), and projects to adapt regulations and services to this format.

Accessible Routes. World Heritage Cities

Salamanca offers accessible routes that combine historical heritage and nature, including adapted visits to emblematic monuments such as Plaza Mayor, La Clerecía, and the Cathedrals. There are also accessible green itineraries along the Tormes river and the Parque de la Salud, as well as the possibility of exploring the historic center with adapted bicycles.

Accessible Routes in the Historic Center and Monuments

Guided and Adapted Tours: Specific accessible tours are offered through Plaza Mayor, the Cathedral, Casa de las Conchas, Iglesia de la Purísima, and Palacio de Monterrey - La Clerecía, among other sites. La Clerecía: It is possible to ascend La Clerecía's towers to enjoy accessible panoramic views of the city and its Baroque architecture. Heritage Interpretation Center: This center, featuring interactive technologies, is the ideal starting point to understand Salamanca's heritage, including the values that earned it UNESCO World Heritage Site status.

Nature Routes and Parks

Tormes River: There are accessible itineraries along the Tormes River, allowing visitors to enjoy the flora and fauna, as well as the city's orchards and gardens. Parque de la Salud: Accessible green areas are available for visitors' enjoyment, such as the Parque de la Salud. Riverside Park and Cycle Path: It is possible to traverse the cycle path bordering the river, connecting with the university campus and some of the city's neighborhoods.

Other Accessible Activities

Bicycle Rental: Adapted bicycles can be rented to explore the city, either through the historic center or along the cycle path. Cultural Activities: Cultural events such as theatre, music, and cinema are held in various venues across the city, which may be accessible.
