CERRO DE SAN VICENTE

1 hour 30 minutes
The protohistoric settlement of San Vicente was discovered in 1949 following the construction of the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe university hall of residence, part of the Pontifical University of Salamanca, which was recently demolished.
Archaeological research has been carried out since 1990, at the behest of the Ministry of Culture of the Regional Government of Castilla y León and the Honourable City Council of Salamanca, leading to the approval of the Special Plan for Cerro de San Vicente in 1997. Its implementation has allowed for the recovery of the historic urban layout and the acquisition for public ownership of most plots affected by the most significant archaeological remains, thereby guaranteeing their protection and public enjoyment.
