Award Ceremony and Inauguration of the Photographic Exhibition Dedicated to Hair Salons of Salamanca and Province

The Museum of Commerce's photography competition celebrated its eighth edition. Launched in 2009 to commemorate the Centenary of the Mercado Central de Abastos (Central Wholesale Market), the competition has consistently featured themes directly linked to Salamanca's commerce and industry throughout all its editions. This year, the competition's theme was 'Hair Salons of Salamanca and Province'.

At the event, attended by the Councilor for Tourism, Don Julio López Revuelta, four financially endowed prizes were awarded: first, second, and third place, along with a special prize for photographs that, while adhering to the theme, featured images from outside the province, and 11 honorable mentions.

Fifty-two photographers submitted a total of 168 works to this eighth competition. These works represented hair salons from Salamanca, Ciudad Rodrigo, Carbajosa de la Sagrada, and Béjar. Regarding the extra-provincial entries, photographs arrived from several Spanish regions such as Asturias, La Rioja, Catalonia, and Andalusia, as well as from countries like Italy and Thailand.

The exhibition was then inaugurated, remaining open to the public until February 2018. It showcased sixty photographs selected from those submitted to the competition, the results of which were announced in November 2017.

In addition to the inauguration and award ceremony, the online version of the photographic exhibition was presented to the media. With the aim of renewing the competition and fostering the visibility of the submitted works, they were digitally displayed to the public in this eighth edition, complementing their physical exhibition in the Museum's halls.
